About

Hey, I’m The Itinerant Animal, or Tia for short. This is my travel blog.

In 2007 I left India for the first time to visit London. My mind’s eye recalls three memories vividly – London’s balmy weather that summer, Gnarles Barkley’s ‘Crazy’ which played everywhere in the clubs of Soho, and Italian artist Piero Manzoni’s ‘Artist’s S***’, a tiny little box housed in the Tate Modern gallery which contained none other than Mr. Manzoni’s you know what. I was thrilled by the novelty of it all, and though I came from a country rich with colour and an abundance of novelty I yearned to leave the nest to treat my senses with more to smell, taste, see and most importantly, feel.

I returned to India starry eyed, only to leave again in 2011 for the most energising city in the world, New York. And for the past two years I’ve been living in London with my husband. I’m not sure whether it is the animal in us which makes many of us want to wander, keep moving. I do, but having not mustered the courage to throw caution to the wind, I wander cautiously, also known as ‘holidaying’.

My blog strings together my deep love for travel, food and art. Welcome!
